You may not know this but Mexicans have a tradition where they start celebrating 10 days before Christmas. When you go to a posada you will see kids dressed up as Mary, Angels, Shepherds and the Three Wise Men. The participants go around with everyone and do a procession and sing that’s called Pidiendo Posada. (Asking for a place to stay.) Then they pray the rosary. Once that is done there is either bread or tamales and hot chocolate for everyone. They also have piñatas and candy for the kids. This gives families and children a chance to come together and have some fun. At the same time they pray. What can be better? Idalia Ortega loved the posadas and without them St. Paul might not be keeping this tradition alive. Thanks Ortegas.
